Maudy Thursday
In the liturgical calendar, today is known as maudy thursday, which commemorates the last supper and Jesus arrest in the garden. It is a day of deep significance to those who are Christian. The last supper who is Jesus final meal, followed by a gathering in the garden where Jesus spoke of his upcoming passion and Literally sweated blood. This is a known medical malady, the result of extraordinary stress and anxiety where the stress actually causes capillaries in the body to explode and leak blood. Of course, no one knew the medical fact of this extraordinarily rare event, which again is circumstantial evidence that this actually took place. No one could’ve invented this out of whole cloth. I’m certain that none of us have felt this kind of anxiety. Jesus felt it knowing that his death would be accompanied by much torture, agony, and suffering.
Then, the inevitable happened. Roman soldiers came into the garden and demanded to locate Jesus. Now the disciples were terrified, and they didn’t know what really was happening. When Jesus said I am he, the soldiers took him and arrested him and dragged him away, to be brought before the magistrate. The die was cast. He was charged with blasphemy, accompanied by miracles and healings. These were said to be the act of devils, and the Romans tried to release him from their custody, but the high priests told the Romans that Jesus claimed to be a king, and preached insurrection. King of the Jews. They were asked what the punishment should be and they answered, crucify him.
I would declare that it is probable that 3/4 of the human beings, living on earth, know about the crucifixion of Jesus, which technically happened the day following on what is known as good Friday. This caused me to stumble. What was so good about Friday? That’s tomorrow. So today, on maudy Thursday, It is a time for the evening meal to be followed by prayer. More on this Easter weekend later. Maudy Thursday has enough to think upon all by its self.
